Re: 2018 - Tour of Local Fare

Wow! Howie back in the fold. And to think I picked a concert at the Goodyear in Akron over Korean BBQ. Go figure. Shame on me. For any new members in the last 10 years, (on the old (original) website) Howie was (by far) the #1 poster. The "Howieisms" were legendary. Too bad we can't resurrect those ...

Re: '65 Standard

I've been over to Bruce's shop 3 times this week and I can't take my eyes off that bus. I love how he kept the original rough look. He blended the paint perfectly. He's even got a hillbilly heat pipe for those cool spring and fall rides. 8-)

Re: '66 Deluxe

I guess there's something to be said for having 12V :D I remember the 70's when everyone was buying (or trying to afford) Harmon Kardon, Pioneer, Kenwood, Yamaha and Sansui amps for the home set up. The ultimate was a great amp with a set of BOSE 901's in a home set up. Maybe its just my desire to b...

Re: Amskeptic Visit 2007

Nice to see the bus you should have kept ;) For those newer members, they're referring to the '74 orange Westy in the pictures. Probably should have kept it, but no regrets. Each of us in LEAKOIL often have a multitude of stories about acquiring or selling buses. Sometimes we regret moves and somet...

Amskeptic Visit 2007

Many of you have probably heard of Colin the intinernet mechanic who goes by the handle Amskeptic and drives around the country helping you (for a price) fix your bus. His website is a good source of info for bay window owners. http://www.itinerant-air-cooled.com/index.php Anyway, Don from Canton be...

Ft. Firelands 2007

Long before Mohican, one of the first LEAKOIL campouts of the year was held at Ft. Firelands in Marblehead. LEAKOILERS would drive their buses inside the fort like "F Troop" (Google it Millennials) and hang out for the night. On some dates, a VW related car show would follow the next day outside the...

Kelley's Island Photos 2005

Came across these so thought I'd post them up. This guy was from Michigan. He would come every year with his wife and two sons. Sadly, he passed away not long after this. For the life of me I can't remenber his name. kombis on kelley's 2005 018.jpg Can't remember who owned these two bays either. kom...

Re: Kelleys Island Photos 2013

Only 5 years late, but since I'm messing with old photos, may as well get a few of these up. My college friend Sandy Stewart and her husband Mike Smith. Both came from Phoenix Az. for the day on Saturday. IMG_4167.jpg Buses on the infield awaiting the flyovers. IMG_4182.jpg Out at the airport when B...
