I bought this pile a few years ago in your guys neck of the woods. I cant remember what town it was in but it was somewhere in Ohio. It needs everything the previous owner made a complete mess of it trying to do repairs where he had no idea what he was doing

Those photos are in the PO shop
Its kind of hard to see in this pic but the frame is totally toast in this section. That is sheetmetal welded unto the frame.

It all has to go
Check out the rot in the u channel that hold the master cylinder and steering box support channel.

Re: My daughters 67 deluxe
Wow, huge task, but you're doing a great job. It looks like you found a full right frame which should make your work easier, and you've got a nice big well equipped shop for support. I love your choice of primer- Gerson green. Keep shooting pics and keep us up to date on your progress!

Re: My daughters 67 deluxe
Hehe Hey Bruce yep the section of frame I got off you would have been a little too short to cover the mess I am into.
yep a little bit of Gerson green eh! It was on there when I bought it I am using some green stuff I had laying around before I got into the good stuff I had a valance and floor.
I will be taking this down completely
Hey Tom no this was about as incomplete as they come. I have managed to get all the seats except the front passenger seat. I just picked up a short middle from a 65 that will work.
Here are the rest of the photos from yesterdays work. I have been measuring and re measuring this for about a week. I have been a little freaked out about cutting the frame this is my first real frame job where I am removing the whole piece

I used that small hole for a reference point

I made the mirror outline on the donor section

Then it was time to quit hesitating and giver ..out with the old

Hard to see the numbers on the level but I am happy with the way it all came out

Hey Mike ...no timeline but my daughter has been patiently waiting for quite awhile.Mike Kever Kombi wrote: do you have a time frame in mind?
I hope to get the metal work done over the winter. I have a lot of lousy repairs to pull off. Believe it or not this bus actually had the outer valance in UPSIDE DOWN.
I have a 55 singlecab in my shop from a paying customer so I am trying to divide up my "spare" time

Re: My daughters 67 deluxe
Well if it turns out 1/2 as nice as the 58, it will look a real treat, and be well worth the wait.
Re: My daughters 67 deluxe
did that guy live down in southern Ohio? have a bunch of old high wheels cars?
Re: My daughters 67 deluxe
Hey Brad... I cant remember where it was.
I do remember he had a bunch of nice horses and a really nice farm. He had a couple of beetles that looked done up. He told me he had got the bus off some kid who had done the work on it.
It was cold and snowy and I was tired..I probably should have walked away but I pretty much knew what I was in for
I needed a change ...rusty work rather than the fiddly work I have been doing on my 58
