Woodward Dream Cruise

Post by Rob »

The Givler family went up to Detroit and enjoyed another Woodward Dream Cruise. The Michigan VIntage VW Club has a cruise in spot set up at Kerby's Coney Island along the route where you can pull and take a break from cruising. Very nice group of people. They even offered free drinks and snacks. If you ever get a chance to go see this cruise it is well worth it. Vehicles of all kinds, and I mean everything. Check out the pictures.

And we always finish a trip to Detroit with a visit to Belle Isle.

Yes, I went too in the bus but didn't take any pictures worth posting. Got a great parking spot in Birmingham in front of the Fiat/Audi dealer near the Old Woodward "triangle" at about 7am, then went back to the hotel for a leisurely breakfast with friends and relatives that came along from as far away as Denver and Tennessee. Weather was great, left before the rain came late in the afternoon. Have gone to WWDC almost every year since 2002, common numbers stated are 40,000 classic cars and well over a million people. We talked to people from all over the US that drove or flew in, and a group of guys that came from Australia just for the event. This should be on everyone's bucket list, I recommend it highly.

This was the best vehicle at the Michigan Club spot. It is not every day you see a 55 Continental convertible driver. The family has owned it for 36 years. Not bad for a $2,000.00 investment.

That was a nice car. The old green single cab in the background was cool too. I held the caution tape for him to get out when we came in to park and he got out to hold it for me to get in. Met, Gary, with the Green Thing at the Thing Show down in Tipp City Ohio this summer, he has owned it since 1983. Again recommended this trip and Cruise In to anyone. Cars you never see out are everywhere!
