Yes that's the collection in Norwalk he wanted to use as a museum, but will be sold off this summer at Summit. With that much publicity prices will probably reach the moon, kinda like that family GM dealership a few years ago in BFE Nebraska that had rusting, brand new, never titled cars with 6 miles on them.

Ron Hackenberger Auction
I went to the preview Friday at Norwalk Dragway and only saw half the vehicles, all of the trucks and tractors were at a different site. Seeing half was overwhelming and the guys I went with were "done" after that so we left. About 700-800 vehicles in the auction, seeing half was a lot! Kind of a shame since Blue Suede Cruise was happening at the same time, as was drag racing and camping, too bad we didn't know the logistics ahead of time since this would have made an incredible place to meet/camp/cruise/race/view etc. If you drove a DD you parked 1/4 mile away, if you drove a classic you parked right next to the auction cars and dragstrip.
This guy was big into weird cars- virtually no Ford/Chevys, lots of oddball Studebakers, Euros, micro/mini cars, brands I never heard of etc. The property was laid out very well- plenty of parking, clean, portajohns everywhere, food, racing, cruising, very organized. The auction was yesterday/today but no results are posted yet, it will be interesting to see what the '59SC goes for as well as the Bays. There were about a dozen VWs overall, see links above for the auction catalog and pack a lunch.
Note the three blue Bay pictures are not the same bus.
PS, Like the bigger pictures, Bill! Can this be retrofitted backwards to the '66 thread I just restored?

The new larger pics only show as of 7/10 at whatever time Rich made the change. will not work retroactive. That is,any photo posted after that date and time will be the new large size.
Re: 700 car auction in norwalk
I took the ride out to Norwalk yesterday. Like Bruce said a ton of cars to see. Between the car show, auction cars and drag racing it was a pretty busy day. There were a lot of really neat and different vehicles that I would probably have never seen in person. It was also cool, because the auction cars you were allowed to climb into I and really get a feel for them. I wish I took pictures but he Zip vans and Citroen were probably my favorites. The VWs were pretty popular.
