Seeking: Vanagon Weekender

Post by kolobrian » Thu Aug 10, 2017 3:09 pm

Hello, I am new to this forum and appreciate the opportunity to post.
Last month, I toured the Pacific NW in a rented 1986 Westy Vanagon Weekender.

With three small children, (ages 9, 8 & 5), it was perfect for the 5 of us and was a life changing event as to how we want to spend our free time as a family.

Now back in Cleveland, OH, I am searching high and low for a Weekender that we can have for ourselves. I've been doing research, and I have met some awesome people along the way who have given me some incredible insight. My hope is to learn more, but ultimately to find a Westy and have it in my driveway in well running condition by next April!!

My budget tops off at about $21,000, and that would be for a van that has had enough work that no major repairs are expected right out of the gate. I am open to find one that needs work, but I would need to pay less in order to pay for the work.

This need not be in Ohio, or the Midwest, I can fly to pick one up, or have it shipped. Have been looking on Samba, craigslist, ebay, etc.

Again, I guess right now I am just introducing myself, looking to connect with opinions, words of caution, awareness of events or gatherings, and maybe an inside track on our future Westy going on the market.

I'm mostly in a hurry because my kids are small, but growing way faster than I would like! I want to enjoy some family adventures while my kids still think my wife and I are cool!!

Thanks a million
Brian

Call Elmar at Streetsboro foreign auto. http://streetsboroforeignauto.com/

Tell him you are LEAKOIL member. He often has Buses/Vanagons for sale.

There are a few different ones on TS, including a tan syncro in Cleveland with a folding rear seat/bed that seems to be for sale by Tom S there but not for sale on here.
