Aaron just told me (not too long ago) to build a stock 1600 with slight carbs. and exhaust mods.
Lasts a long time and won't bust your budget and you get to enjoy your bus while you build that 300hp monster motor

Thanks. I'm leaning towards the stock 1600 which is more budget-friendly. I believe the original transmission can be used too which saves some money. As I go through this process, the thought of pulling off and out items which do work and do run seems a less sensible way of going about the project. Comments are still appreciated.

What is the extra black stripe below the beltine is it tape? or painted on?

Black tape pin striping. I was unsure about this as well as many other things, but it sets the two colors off really nice I think. I think the exterior of this bus is now beter than when it rolled off the factory floor in '65. Don did a truly remarkable job on it. It was a referral from here and a chance I took and will never regret!
