Well over the past few weeks I've really made some progress on the Bus. Got the gas tank removed, cleaned out, and sealed. I'll finish up reinstalling that later today. The Friday night engine rebuilding sessions that Josh has held at his home have been highly informative and beneficial. Last Friday the long block was successfully completed (cylinder heads from RIS look great) and we mocked up some engine tin at the end of the night to actually see the project coming to an end. Last night the heater boxes, the majority of the engine tin, generator, fan, intake manifolds, and other miscellaneous small items were installed. I still have to get a few things but next Friday we're looking at installing the dual Webers that I purchased through CB and hopefully firing it up.
My first glimpse of the beast.
Beast removed
POR 15 Tank Sealer <---this stuff works great.
I love the fact that under the contents area it says "contents partially unknown". You know you're working with strong stuff when it says something like that
During the POR15 application process.
After
Longblock assembly night
Tin mocked up
Almost done!!
The master inspecting the almost finished masterpiece.

Are those Sean approved safety glasses
It's coming along pretty darn good! I'm jealous, it looks like you have the correct engine block with all the mounting points for the mustache bar.

No, but I'm getting a "Sean safety approved" razor for Josh.

With those glasses and that fu-man-chu, he's starting to look too much like that guitar player/singer in Metalica.

Nice job Brandon. Looks like you're doing it right and you got the right guy helping you. That Thing ought to be running like a Swiss (German) watch.

Yes, thank you. I've been trying to get as much work done to it as possible. The engine should be finished up pretty soon and I can't wait to drive it. Since I was off from work pretty much this whole week, I took care of a bunch of loose ends. Bolted the cabinet down, put the rear VW script back on, put the rear hatch panel on, etc. I repainted the roof again. The first time around when I painted it at Kyle's shop, I used a crappy roller that left behind a bunch of fuzz. So this time I lightly sanded all of that rough fuzz and crap off the roof and used a better foam roller to put 2 new coats of gloss white Rustoleum on it. After all that was dry I reassembled the rear roof rack bars and called it a night.

Went over to Josh's last night after I got out of work and we got the dual Webers installed. Planning on getting it back in the Bus early next week.

Nice!

Is Amanda gonna let you guys fire it up in the basement to be sure it's all dialed in?
