1974 VW Thing Engine Rebuild

Some of you may or may not know that over the past few months Aaron (WideFive) has been rebuilding the engine to my Thing. Well, I picked it up yesterday evening and man is that Thing sweet now. Here are some photos that I stole from Aaron during the rebuild. He did a great job and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs VW service.

Some quick specs on the engine build:
Displacement: 1776cc
Stroke: 69mm
Bore: 90.5mm
Stock crank and rods
AA Pistons & Cylinders
-Pistons balanced to 372g
40x32 Heads
Engle 100 cam w/ Mahle lifters
Stock pushrods and rockers
8:1 compression
Weber 40 IDF's

Love the attention to detail. That "thing" is really sweet Brandon, and it's not "Chevette powered".

Brandon brought the "Thing" by my place today. It's even more impressive in person. That engine rocks!

I really wanted to go for a ride in it, but we were getting ready to head out to a birthday party. Sounded great! The powdercoating on it is exceptional. He said it was the guy in Elyria. California quality!
