'88 Vanagon

Post by Nab21094 »

I just got a Vanagon and I'm trying to get it to pass an E-check which I failed..
Pat and I ghetto rigged a Gasket because I have a exhaust leak so could that of been the reason why I didn't pass the E-check? :?

Just move to one of the 86 counties in Ohio that don't have E-check!

What portion did it fail?

Too many variables without a better understanding of why it did not pass.

We got the van back. Nick drove it a couple days. Hose ruptured, he lost coolant. Heads got warpted, things got melted. That's that. It is getting fixed again now. If anyone wants to take this thing off my hands let me know. Im just fed up rite now. Vanagons are very expensive to fix and im sticking with air cooled. Just blowing off a little steam and you will probably see him driving it around to some of the events this summer unless another one of the THOUSAND cooling componets goes bad and I end up scraping that PILE! Ok now that that's off my chest, see you guys thursday. Its ST. PATTYS day and if anyone needs a ride to or from Basil's I will be happy to give you a lift. Peace.

Another hose ruptured. No damage this time. I caught it before very much coolant came out. Waterboxes RULE! !!!!!

Just replaced coolant hoses in the engine bay that my engine builder neglected to replace. ( All of them ! )Ok that's squared away. Im going to do the ATF fluid tomorrow. I ordered the filter from the zone. What would you experienced folks suggest as far as fluid goes? Weight etc. Transmision doesn't shift from first to second when its cold. ( automatic trans. 220,000 miles ) when its warm everything works well. I've heard these are sensitive to the amount and cleanliness of the ATF fluid. Thank you for any info.
