Not really a project because Josh already did all the hard work

but I have been playing around with the '71 this winter. I was a little bored on Monday and replaced the main heater tube. It had a hacked in blower motor along with a few feet of dryer vent piping and a bunch of hose clamps, and the rest of the pipe was rotted out. Sorry, no before pics....just in between pics.

That green pipe looks like the leg from my kids' swingset. I was wondering where that went to!

Looks good. I could live with that.

Is that Gerson green or some regular green metal? I should really do that fix as well since I don't have one of those tubes at all.

I wanted to roll my own

at work, but didn't have any more sheet metal at home (used it all on the MGB

) so I bought the funky green stuff from monkeynut. This piece was so-so for the money.

That bus is in great hands! It's only been just a few years since that bus has been in this region, and I think it's never been treated better than it is now. I think us Mid-Westerner's don't take these vehicles (especially the metal work) for granite as much as West coasters do.
Nice work Kirk!!

That bus is going to be so hot now with the dual heating systems your going to have to paint some flames on that HOT BUS. Nice Job

westy66 wrote:just an FYI, you can get heater tubes for $20 at any electrical supply house. galvanized conduit, cut what you need to fit. i dont remember of its 3.5" or 4".
The diameter of the center tube is close the 2 3/4" and it may be cheaper to buy the conduit, but don't weld galvanized and breathe the fumes....unless you want to get sick

Welded-in steel? I used black plastic drain pipe and rubber couplings. I figured that was a big upgrade from the factory paper hose!
