I don't have a complete archive of step by step photo's but here it goes

This Goon has been off the road since approx 1996 or prior. Not sure the last time it ran?
Fuel System was in sad shape with the most rank smelling fuel I have ever smelled.

1. Fuel Tank was Shot - New Fuel Tank and Reseal Fuel Lines...(SUCKED) :(
2. Sent Injectors out to have serviced... Cruzin Performance
3. Battery , Points , Plugs , Cap, Wires bla bla bla
4. Brakes including calipers, rotors, rear brake kit...
5. New Ultra High Grade Spectro Oil
6. Blasted Wheels , Paint - New Tires - Nexen 185R14 SV-820's

Fired up, ran like hell and knocking. Traced down one injector wire in harness was pushed back
causing one injector not making contact. Fixed - engine smoothed out but still knocked

Let it run for 20 mins or so and gradually the hydraulic lifters pumped up and eventually smoothed out and got quiet.

Brakes wouldn't hold pressure so I pulled dash apart and took out Master Cylinder (brilliant design) :(

Shoved a strip of cardboard down into booster to see if any brake fluid is resting down at the bottom and yes about 3"
of resting brake fluid in the bottom of the booster.

Will extract using an oil changer pump.

Master Cylinder on order

Nice looking bus! My favorite Vanagon color. I guess I'll be hard pressed to keep up with you and Kirk this summer! :D

Might want to have the booster rebuilt if it was sitting long soaking in brake fluid.

Beats pulling the dash AGAIN...

Brake Materials & Parts can turn a booster around in 3 days.

You realize you will form calluses on your fingers from crossing them so much when you own a Vanagoon?

Looks much better without those crappy hubcaps. Glad it is close to being on the road.
