1971 inside-the-club Westy Camper for Sale

Post by Dan »

Hello Fellow LEAKOILers,

Virginia and I have decided to part with our long-time camping partner, our white 1971 Westfalia Campmobile.
You've probably seen it through the years at various LEAKOIL events. Before I list it on the internet (the Samba, RV Trader, etc.) I wanted to let you all know that we we'd like to discount the price for LEAKOIL members. This way the bus stays 'in the family' and we can watch someone else enjoy it.

We are the second owners, having purchased it in 1992. Its been garage kept all its life.
Engine rebuilt at 108,040 miles at DerWagonwerks with Bill Webner. (Stock specs and balanced crank.) 17,723 miles on the new motor. All mechanicals recently gone over thoroughly by Bruce Amaker who updated brakes, lines, and anything else it needed. Runs and drives beautifully. (We have 33 years worth of maintenance records.)

Because it is a 1971 it has factory front disc brakes. Features: New pop-top canvas - new paint - 4 new Hankook tires - new windshield. Standard full Westy camper items and some extras: adult-size cot up top, child's cot for over the front seats (so sleeps three adults and a smaller person) sink, ice-box, 3 fold-out tables, closet, jump seat with storage, interior light, rear hatch snap-in screen, and even the removable matching camp stool included.

This bus was featured in Automobile Magazine, March 2009. https://www.motortrend.com/vehicle-genr ... n-microbus
We are going to list it publicly for $29,500, but for LEAKOIL members we are asking $26,500.

Please let me know if you are interested and we can get together for a close look at the camper. I'll post photos soon.
